What data we collect
EvidenceLens does not collect, store, or share any personal data. The extension processes video transcripts in real-time and does not persist them on our servers.
Data sent to our servers
When you use the Verify Claims, Summarize, or Chat features, the video transcript text is sent to our backend server (api.evidence-lens.com) for processing via the Google Gemini API. This data is:
- Processed in real-time only
- Not stored or logged after the response is returned
- Not shared with any third parties beyond Google's Gemini API
Permissions
- activeTab — Access the current YouTube tab when you interact with the extension
- scripting — Extract video caption data from the YouTube page
- storage — Save your language preference locally in your browser
Local storage
The extension stores only your language preference using Chrome's sync storage. No other data is persisted locally or remotely.
Third-party services
Transcript processing uses Google's Gemini API. Please refer to Google's AI Terms of Service for their data handling practices.
